The UFLab investigates and explores some of the most pressing socio-spatial challenges of American cities, including the food-water-energy nexus, sustainable mobility, entrepreneurship, systems of circular economy, infrastructure, the environmental impacts of climate change, and other ongoing transformation processes. To this aim, the Lab focuses on the design of clusters of high-performance buildings and new types of public space.

In collaboration with our partners, the Urban Futures Lab has a clear pathway to impact: we conduct applied research on smart, resilient communities and integrated technologies that include citizen-centric solutions to meet the changing needs of urban areas and demographic shifts; providing a step change improvement in urban living and systems; identifying pathways to reduce GhG emissions.
